A cooperative is similar to a condominium association in that residents have access to common grounds and other amenities in the park.

Chesapeake Point is truly a park in many ways. There is abundant birdlife here, and the fishing can be excellent. There are often manatees moving lazily by and dolphin herding schools of fish against the seawall to feed. Several of our residents have had manatee encounters while out kayaking in the area around Chesapeake Point Park and Spring Bayou. We recommend the park to anyone interested in wildlife: dolphins, manatees, great blue herons, white egrets, ibis, oyster catchers, brown pelicans, eagles, little blue herons, great horned owls, red hawks, osprey and more. Many of these bird species even nest within the park.

A healthy walk or bicycle ride from Chesapeake Point will bring you to Howard Park. You can drive to the causeway and spend the day hiking, kayaking, or picnicking at the beach. The water along the causeway is enjoyable for fishing, wind surfing, sea kayaking, paddle boarding, or kite boarding. At the end of the causeway is a beautiful white sand beach which never seems to be crowded. Nearby, Sunset Beach also offers many of the same attractions to beach lovers. Of course, it's a prime location to watch the sunset at the end of the day!

Chesapeake Point is less than 30 miles from Tampa International Airport and all the exciting vacation and entertainment activities that Tampa has to offer. The cities of St. Petersburg and Clearwater are even closer.

We are also a short drive to many of Florida's most beautiful State Parks: Honeymoon Island, Caladesi Island, rated America's #1 beach, Anclote Key Preserve, and the breathtaking Ft. De Soto.

Tarpon Springs is famous for its Greek community and long history of sponge diving. There are charming Greek shops and restaurants along the waterfront by the Sponge Docks, where sponge diving continues to this day. From Chesapeake Point, you can see sponge and shrimp boats heading into the docks loaded with their catch.

Every January 6, Tarpon Springs hosts the Greek Holy Epiphany procession and celebration. Devoted followers, as well as tourists, come from around the world to participate in this well known tradition of Epiphany. Customs include Diving for the Cross in Spring Bayou and Blessing of the Fleet, followed by many Greek festivities.
